Tried to remove top of oil filter canister to replace the filter element and the whole thing became unscrewed
It unscrews one turn and bumps
to something and i wont force it any further . I tried to turn clockwise , but it does not tighten . Cannot run engine since oil will run out .
I called the shop that handled the car before , but they have not seen this problem .
Has anyone run into a problem like this ? Any useful suggestions ?

It is like my Toyota, where you replace the filter element. Maybe the o-ring is sticking. Or the housing threads are messed up. I would force it past the point where it is binding, but that is me.

Those caps are often over tightened. You’ll have to hold the housing with a strap wrench to loosen the cap. Inside the housing is a 12 mm bolt, you may want to remove the housing, inspect for damage and replace the O-ring.
