Rusty motorcycle gas tank, sealer failed

A gas tank for a $185.00 that I can’t pick up and look at? No way!

The problem here isn’t the rust, that can be fixed. It’s the defective goo, right? Until there’s a good surface on the inside of the tank for the POR to work on, it’s a problem.

@texases RIGHT. Not only that, but I have the same sealer in my Model A Ford’s gas tank. I have not used it in while, so it has NO gas in it to degrade the sealer. Hopefully I can find some non-ethanol gas the next time I take it out.

Can anyone (other than the POR salesman) recommend their goo removal and replacement system?

@caddyman That tank you showed on ebay is too new for my R-80. According to their site, it is not compatible. The fuel outlets appear to be in different locations. Besides, it may be as rusty as the one I have. They did have a lot of interesting stuff in their store though. There is another one at $90, but I has four days to run. I have asked the seller if he has tested it for leaks.
