My 99 v70 non turbo has run perfectly since I bought it 6 years ago. Today driving home from the store while stopped at a red light it started to idle rough and I was worried it might die. On taking off it was rough like stuttering but not as bad when up to speed but on going uphill very rough and sluggish. When I got home I left it running, put it in park and stepped on the gas. Rough at low rpm and ok at higher rpm. Does this sound like a fuel pump or filter or something else?

It doesn’t sound like a fuel pump or filter problem.

When was the last time the plugs were changed and a new air filter was installed.
I would suspect those and a good cleaning of the throttle body were in order.

A scan showed a problem with the #3 cylinder. I changed the plugs, the #3 coil, and put in a new air filter. Problem solved.
