# Road Trip Conundrum--which car to take, or should I rent?

The problem is that you can’t fake out rental agencies. The cars have GPS tracking systems. If the contract says California and Nevada only and you cross into Arizona they can tell, and there are stories about them adding on charges to people who violate their contract terms.
