Hi Everyone.

I’ve got a 2001 Pontiac Aztek with very leaky radiator. I’ve never replaced a radiator before, but it seems straight forward enough, so I’ve decided to give it a shot. One big problem is that there are two large clamps that appear to connect the engine to the front of the car that will need to be taken off. They look pretty heavy duty, and I’m nervous that if I unbolt them the engine will fall out of the bottom of the car. Is that something I should be worried about? Here is a link to a picture of the clamps I’m talking about.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Those are the front engine mounts. You definitely don’t want to unbolt those without having the engine supported in some way.

I would strongly recommend that you get a repair manual for your vehicle before attempting this repair. I’d say it would really surprise me if you had to unbolt the engine in order to change the radiator, but then, this is an Aztek, and nothing really surprises me on that car.
