I tried to remove the cabin filter as seen on youtube videos but the filter stays
stuck in the plastic clip, is there any other way besides braking the plastic clip
which snaps in the filter- I used pliers trying to move the filter upwards and wiggle it out of the clip, no success, I had to abandon my effort after too much strain on my
neck and knees- any suggestions besides having it done by a mechanic?

All I can suggest is to watch several videos, maybe you’re missing a step.

Don’t feel bad about not getting it out. from what I am reading there are a lot of others who had a hard time getting theirs out.
You can try grabbing the filter with pliers and try pulling it down first to get it out of the top clip, then wiggle upward to get it out of the bottom clip.
If that doesn’t work, use a flat head screwdriver or pliers to hold down the bottom clip and then use another plier to grab filter and wiggle it out.

Clip holds filter? And door covers filter? Why do you need clip? Belts and suspenders?

in one video a flat tip screw driver was used to move the filter upwards, still no easy push, I will give it a try

Google “cabin filter replacement 2010 versa” , pretty good vdo provided by Google right at the top.

Here’s another

[How to Replace Cabin Air Filter Nissan Versa - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnxCXAmxpSg)

It looks like the biggest problem is just getting the glove box out of the way without losing the screws … lol … The problem you are having I expect is that over time the plastic edge of the filter has stuck to the area where it fits, plastic has a tendency to do that, sort of welds itself. Same problem is commonly experienced when attempting to disconnect automotive electrical connectors.

If following the above vdos doesn’t do the trick, you might try heating the area a little with a hair dryer to soften the plastic, might allow it to unstick. Beyond that, maybe dab a little silicone lube around the perimeter using a q-tip, try again the next day. .

thanks for the suggestions, I will try all, the lubrication and applying heat all may just do the trick, get the glove box out is no issue

I finally managed to exchange the cabin air filter. I used a flat tip screwdriver to push the old filter forcefully upward to move it out of the catching clip. The newly installed filter moves smoothly. On the photo you see the scratch marks from the screw driver.
For anyone attempting to do a filter change: I was on my knees to
get all the screws out and back in, and also to reach for the filter, you strain your neck, you need a flashlight for a good look. The filter package said the job
takes 10 minutes, not for me. Another problem developed with some of the “washers”
for lack of knowing the correct term, which were around the screw holes,
they had moved during the process and partially covered the screw hole and therefore the screws did not catch properly or not at all. I ended up taking out screws more than once.
