2002 GMC Jimmy, V6, Broken wrist pin on #5 Cylinder. Repair will cost $3,000+. Used engine replacement will be $2,300+. New engine will cost $4,300+. Trade in value on a car in really good shape other than the engine is almost zero. What would you do? Thanks for any input. Bob

Used engine, attempt craigslist/ebay or sell to auto recycler.

Used engine would be my first choice in “good shape” otherwise. Don’t waste money on a new engine, you will never recover it.

Your estimates seem pretty high for a ubquitous 4.3L V6. They are everywhere. A new crate 4.3L from GM costs less than the used engine option you listed. I would get some more estimates.
