We have a 2002 Ford xlt super cab Ranger. We went to our own mechanic to get the emergency/parking brake cable fixed. They had to order the part from a Ford dealer. Come to find out one of the parts aren’t even made anymore. My mechanic is having a hard time finding an after market part. Can anyone out there help us out? We would rather not have to go to a salvage yard.

No OEM or aftermarket? You don’t have much choice. Not all salvage yard parts are junk.

Are we talikg about a rusted-through cable? You ought to be able to hack something together using cable, cable ties, and some sort of stop. E-brake cables generally fail at one termina or another…and most likely the rusty one underneath the car.
