# Removing Backseat Armrests in 95 Pontiac

I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am and the armrests in the backseat jut out and take up a lot of space. I am in the process of needing to add another carseat back there and I just can’t seem to find some thin enough. Can I remove these armrests (is it possible, is it legal, is it safe?)

I can picture backseat armrests on some vehicles but not in a GrandAM. Would these be for a passengers left or right arm. Is this some type of rest between the passengers?

Don’t the armrests fold up out of the way?

How many car seats are you planning to squeeze into the back seat of your Grand Am?

They are on the doors of the car/part of the door. It looks like there is at least 1 screw I can see (but it is further down, so I don’t know if that’s just for access to the interior of the door/window). The new Grand Ams have recessed armrests.
