# REfueling

when i gas my 2003 Santa Fe the car will not start for 1-3 times and then run rough for a minute; any advice appreciated

Are you in the habit of ‘topping off’, and trying to squeeze in as much gas in as possible? If so stop. Your contaminating the evap system. Stop pumping gas at the first click, and see if the problem clears up.

Sounds like a fault in the fuel tank vent/purge system is allowing fuel vapor to flood the engine during refueling…A purge valve stuck open or something like that…These problems usually trigger a CEL warning light…

it is not an issue of topping off as i only put in $20 and there is never an issue of the check engine light coming on
