We bought a brand new 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan. However, since we purchased the vehicle, it has continuously displayed various error warnings. We took our car to the service twice by making appointments. However, the next day after being told the issue was resolved, our car showed an error warning again. We did not receive a convincing explanation from the service either. It feels like they also don’t know what to do

In your Owner’s Manual, you will find the mailing address and the toll-free phone number for VW of America. Contact them via phone to register your complaint, and follow that up with a letter, sent via Certified Mail, Return Receipt.

Also, begin researching the specific details of the Lemon Law for your state, and be sure to mention in your communications with VW Corporate that you intend to file a Lemon Law Complaint–if/when it becomes necessary as a result of the dealer’s inability to repair the vehicle.

Make sure you have a written record of every interaction with the dealer.

Cars are very complicated these days. This sort of post-new-car experience isn’t that uncommon. Good ideas above; I expect the remaining problem will be fairly quickly resolved by the mechanics at the dealership. Or they may need to ask the manufacturer’s engineers for help too. You are noticing the mechanics seem puzzled, and they probably are, given the “computers-on-wheels” nature of newer cars. But the dealership mechanics have all the tools and diagnostic equipment necessary to solve tis issue. I doubt any other shops in your are would be able to do as well. This may take some patience on your part. Try to maintain a constructive relationship with the dealership shop. Let them know you’ll allow them to keep your car and drive it themselves as their daily driver to aid the diagnosis. Best of luck.

In the way of misery loves company …

> I found this perplexing problem described in a classic-car magazine (Classics World, May, 2024). VW Beetle (new type , water-cooled), don’t know model year, but OBD II era . OBD II codes say “too lean”. But no other obvious symptoms. Starts and runs well. Owner thinks there may be a vacuum leak in the valve cover area , so replaces the oil filler cap, thinking the cap’s seal may be leaking, allowing air into the engine. After replacing the cap, the engine won’t run. I can’…
