I like the proposal. Of course, I’m writing that from the perspective of someone who walks to work and has to pay for heating oil. The hard part will be getting people who can’t afford new cars into fuel efficient cars. Here in Maine, many people drive cars that are falling apart because they can’t afford anything else.
I like the idea, however those with larger families should pay MORE, not less. Their selfish uncontrolled spawning is creating even more demand for future energy. If anything, those without children should be rewarded with a tax advantage as they are the truly energy efficient.
Neural marketing can also be observed in politics. Republicans like to throw away nuanced information and boil complicated interactions down to simple reptilian fight or flight reactions. Obama won because his campaign expressed nuanced
rationality in the face of people who’s only real conservatism is the
conservation of nuanced thought.
You know why I love this? Because gas prices concern me… If they climb high enough for long enough I won’t have to worry about it anymore, because I won’t be able to afford food (this is no exaggeration). If I am eventually unable to afford food, I’ll die, and therefore I won’t have to worry anymore. This will happen much more quickly in the Winter, as I live in the Northeast and could die from my inability to afford heating oil AND food. Which would get me first? I think both at the same time would do the job since I wouldn’t be able to keep my body temperature up if I am unfed.
Thanks Ray, It’s great to see how out of touch people are.
P.s. - How about this: Check out the proposed drilling area in ANWR (look for the REAL photos of the exact area) and tell me there’s a reason not to drill in that 2000 acres of the 20 million. It looks like someone dumped 2000 acres of mud in the middle of a pile of dinosaur crap.
