The OP didn’t use that kit. I found conflicting specs on the switch that was used; 5A or 4A. The horn sheet says use 10A fuse but not current draw expected from horn. I suspect the switch could work if nothing else a few times before it would fail. The fact it was DOA seems to indicate defective switch or perhaps a wiring error.
I would use a relay regardless of the switch rating myself…
