I’ve got to replace the driver side wheel bearings on my '94 Toyota 4x4. I’m going to try it myself, and the last time I tried was on a '89. I couldn’t get the nut assembly off the hub to access the outer bearing.

Is there a trick to this?

Take a look at this site:

A great step-by-step with pictures. Helped a bunch when I had to fix one of my hubs.
