Apart from the sedan, convertible and the “woody”, they made them as a truck and a panelvan also and they was build on a removable chassis, whereas the first mentioned was unitary, but the truck was always with steelbed.

I think the total payload is 1,000 lbs. That includes the people, luggage, games, coolers, trailer, etc.
I have an 06 HHR. The owner’s manual recommends NOT to tow with the manual tranny but it is ok with the auto. I don’t know but I suspect it is because the clutch is too weak for heavy loads and trailors tend to become overloaded without notice. The manual does not specify a towing weight with the auto tranny
