We have a 2003 PT Cruiser with 138,000 on it. While driving at approximately 40 MPH, there is an intermitant, deep rubbing type of noise. The noise seems to be coming from the front end, but is an off, on occurance. Do you have any ideas off how to identify if it is in fact something wrong, or can it be disregarded.

Transmissions can do this. The dealer may have a recall or service bulletin on it. It won’t be a free fix but they might know.
