Seems the Mitsu’s are on the upswing-Kevin

"adding an extra cylinder" obviously means just that. “using the same block " to me means that every thing is dimensionally the same except the length whitch is necessary to " add an extra cylinder”. Definitely needs to be proof read by someone who is both mechanically inclined and knows their vocabulary. That’s not in short supply around here, but is where this article was published.
Db, the author “literally wrote” words that you’ve taken out of context, altering their meaning. Context is as important as the words themselves.
In addition to the sharing of certain designs between Honda and Isuzu the other part of the deal was that Honda got an Isuzu Diesel engine for europe.
Isuzu,makes good diesels-Kevin

In my opinion, the author didn’t do such a good job
If they had done a better job, we wouldn’t even be talking about the engine block
If they had done a better job, it wouldn’t be possible to take anything out of context
If they had done a better job, everything would have been crystal clear, leaving no room for doubt and/or questions
It was probably written by the same people that wrote many of the “excellent” technical service bulletins and factory service manuals which leave you scratching your head, and then you have to read it another 5 times or so, before you have even the slightest idea what you’re supposed to do.
I was on the GM technical website a few days ago, because I needed to understand how a particular system works, so that I could diagnose and repair it. The document about system operation directly contradicted itself so many times, I didn’t even know which end was up.
When all was said and done, I arrived at my own conclusions, based on my experience. Plus, I looked at a “known good” vehicle, so that I would have baseline.
Clearly the writers need to submit the documents to actual working technicians, to ask them if it even makes sense. And it appears that isn’t happening.
Could have used the extra hole for a compressor-Kevin
I think you should consider the Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima non turbo 4 cylinder models.
Let’s not be so quick as to blame the writers of the article. It could have been proof read then published without being sent back to the writer. This obviously is not a “high rent” endeavor that would go through multiple reads and corrections. Just correcting grammar in an original article can easily alter the articles intent in some places. You can imagine what a word processor would do let alone a real person from India not into mechanics.
As you can tell by this simple description ( not to be believed ) , not much in the line of expertise in a poof reading is expected before an article is published .
Can you imagine what would happen to all our posts if they required proof reading ? There are so many grammatical mistakes by many of us, just correcting them could turn this into a cooking forum.
yep,English was certainly not my forte in school-Kevin
Kevin,
Nor mine either ! Fortunately, the lady I married, an English Teacher by trade with a masters in reading comp, said she needed help in math. Though I doubt it.
I would agree that the writing was a bit sloppy. Must have been written by an engineer… {:-b
@dagosa
Our conversations aren’t being “published” in any kind of newspapers or magazines
Therefore, proof reading isn’t expected for our conversations
Besides, we routinely and deliberately use slang and bad grammar, to make a point
I don’t think the author of that article deliberately set out to write a bad article. In fact, it was a rather interesting article.

So you took me seriously ? Hmmmm.

@dagosa–My mother was an English teacher and I had to always be careful of my grammar. She was also very strict. I got in trouble in school and she found out about it, so I was being punished at home. As I was being paddled, I looked up and said, “That don’t hurt, do it some more”. I then got paddled two more times, one paddling for being defiant and the other for using bad grammar. I learned a very valuable lesson. The next time I was being paddled, I remembered to say “That does not hurt, do it some more”.
@Triedaq LoL Good story !
Ahhh, you should have been raised by my dad. One day after piling into the back seat of our car while prepping for a trip, out of no where, my dad turned and for NO reason, hit my brother (real hard) I know it hurt him as much as my brother. It was the only time I ever remember him striking either one of us. My bro was aghast and said, "what’s that for ? ". My dad just turned back around and said, " I expect you kids to behave yourselves. That’s just to let you know what will happen when you don’t. "
After that, my bros and I figured, if he hit us for no reason, he certainly would for one. He was a man of few words, but you listened, intently.
He believed in preventative maintenance on both cars and kids. He had to. With four boys, we could be a wild bunch as we weren’t that far apart in age.But, not around him.
@dagosa
I did not take you all that seriously, but you assume I did
That is a problem with the internet
We can’t see each other’s faces and body language
Words on the screen don’t tell the whole story
You may choose to believe me or not
If you want to continue along these lines, perhaps you should change your screen name to “Sarcastic Joker” . . .
On a regular basis I find both grammar and spelling mistakes in our daily newspaper. Just recently someone suggested that a certain, poorly functioning, imported piece of machinery should be adapted to our cold “climactic” conditions! The spell checker does not catch that type of error.
"sarcastic joker"
Good thought. I might if it doesn’t mean I actually have to live up to it. Regardless, I will continue along these line.
I’ll go off topic and talk about pronunciation, instead of grammar
nuclear versus “nucular”
iron versus “iorn”
idea versus “ideer”
Florida versus “Flahrida”
Orange versus “ahrange”
