I have a 2002 Mazda 626. The power steering pump sometimes squeaks for a few seconds after starting the engine. Is failure imminent ? I was planning on selling the car in the spring and would rather not get this replaced. Can the bearings be lubricated? ---

Probably just the belt or bearing and not the pump. How is the PS fluid level and condition? Any leaks? Any steering problems? ---

Level and condition are good, no leaks, steering is good. Can’t the bearings fail? ---

They can, but a replacement pump is the most cost effective fix. I’ll belt the belt before the bearing, however.
