# PCV valve grommet

My 97 Civic LX seems to be missing the grommet for the PCV valve. When I replaced it last week it just plugged directly into the intake manifold. I’m pretty sure it’s suppose to have a grommet, so am I wondering whether it’s absolutely necessary?

Some kind of air-tight seal is necessary…Perhaps an O-ring hidden in the PCV port??

Right. That’s what isn’t there. The fit seems pretty tight without it.
