If you hate it, why drive it? Trade it in for something else and move on. If you can’t afford to, be grateful you at least have something. Berate it all you will, but they sell enough to prove there is a market for them.
There’s nothing wrong with the echo. It is what it is, basic cheap transportation.
My remarks are meant in a humorous vein. If the car is reasonably straight, safe to drive, and considering it’s free you should jump all over it.
The main thing is to not have the daughter endangered with an unsafe vehicle.
