I appreciate the advice but I already made the trip home. Thankfully all went well. I plan to visit my mechanic tomorrow.

Heh heh. Never did it myself but watched my dad do it once. That was enough of a lesson. I always make sure I have extra oil and filters on hand just in case my memory fails me or I get a bad filter.
