My 2006 Honda Civic has recently started exhibiting two strange features- a moaning whining sound in reverse and a spinning, scraping sound in drive. Related? Serious?

Is this an automatic or a manual transmission? It is usually best to post questions like this in the Repair & Maintenence section.

These could be CV joint and/or bearing noises. Very serious if either falls out or locks-up while driving. Of course, any odd noises in the powertrain are always reasons for concern. I’d consult a mechanic, preferably an independent mechanic that is knowledgeable about Honda’s.
