We need more details, including:

Model year
Engine type
Age of battery
Odometer mileage
Previous symptoms, if any
Maintenance history over the past 3 years
And–most important of all–what exactly happens, and what do you hear, when you push the start button?

Cant answer all the above, I was passing through the rest area and this was a new 2011 Nissan rental by Enterprise and was a 4 cly, battery new, assume no prior manifestation, and I did not hear any noise when the renter pushed the button for 3 seconds, then released it and tried again for 60 seconds and nothing happened but all the interior lights flashed on indicating they were operational but no turning the starter over. I wanted to know what to tell anyone in the future, My first thought was to disconnect the battery and reconnect or jump it with cables but did not pursue.

Several things:

First, you don’t push and hold the button, you just press and release it.
Second, make sure the transmission is in Park.
Third, foot needs to be on the brake.
Fourth, key fob needs to be IN THE CAR. If its in the pocket book outside the car, or in the trunk, not going to do anything at all.

If it doesn’t start under all those conditions, there is a slot in the dash on the left side, above the drivers knee where you can push the key fob into. Plug the key fob in, and then try to start the car.

BC.

2021 Nissan Altima Idle Speed Instability and Acceleration Lag Issues

Hello everyone, I have a 2021 Nissan Altima. Recently, this car has been experiencing unstable idling and acceleration lag. The engine malfunction light is not on. I used an ELM327 adapter with OBDocker software to perform a fault code scan and found a P0300 fault code. I have already checked the air filter and battery, but the problem persists. Has anyone encountered the same problem? Please share your solutions. Thank you!

IMO, it’s much more likely that your spark plugs are overdue for replacement, and/or that you have a bad coil pack–or two. The manufacturer specifies plug replacement every 100k miles. How many miles are on your odometer currently?

Just to add to the above post…

Without being able to monitor live data or check the freeze frame, possible causes could be:
Spark plugs beginning to fail (due at 105K miles) not sure how many miles you have…
Weak or failing ignition coil(s)…
Dirty throttle body and or MAF sensor…
Vacuum leak (probably least likely)…
Fuel delivery or injector issue…
Carbon buildup on the intake valves…

A good scanner goes a long ways in finding issues…

Most instructions say to hold the key fob right up to the button and then press.

You’re responding to the OP, who posted his problem in 2011. The guy who revived this thread today doesn’t have that type of problem.

And that is what can cause confusion when someone attaches a new thread to an old thread.

But, some people don’t understand this..

Not surprising for a first-time poster.
