A followup on the “Old Mold”. My experience is that flash in tires is more likely caused by the tire being too large for the mold rather than the mold having worn. The fix is to adjust the tire building process - typically that means a new tread extrusion die or less shaping pressure at the start of curing - just before the mold closes.
Worn molds usually don’t result in uniform flash. The mold parting surfaces generally get damaged and you’ll find “chunks” (How’s that for a technical term?) - that we also call flash.
What that sounds like to me is you went to a Walmart, Costco, Discount Tire type place to buy tires and asked for the cheapest, I’m sorry, most budget friendly tire they had, saw a little “flashing” on the tire (probably after driving home and realized the ride sucked) and asked the tire shop that probably mainly employees young uneducated (about tires) with very little experience in the automotive world and instead of explaining what is was, just threw the tire manufacturer under the bus.
The reason I say cheap tires and uneducated sales people? Cause no tire shop is saying the Michelin’s, Bridgestone’s and Goodyear’s of the tire world having “poor quality control at the manufacture”… If so then they are pretty much saying what they sell is junk…
Remember that you came to us asking for help, we gave it and almost all if not all of us gave you the same overall answer (which is rare) and you have not liked the answers given you and have been a little defensive when asked for more details…
Sorry you are having issue with your tires…
BTW, I never sold a tire nor installed a tire in my 35+ year career, even when working for a huge tire manufacture, and threw the, even the competition, tire manufacture under the bus of a tire I just installed, that is just very unprofessional… I would question and stay away from ANY company that does that…
Good point, unlike most molding operations, where the mold is closed and the fluid injected, with tires the material is all present before the mold closes. An error in the amount included could then cause this.
boy you sure do assume plenty of information without reading what I posted.
I like how these tires ride and handle and they are one of the three you mention as not being junk.
Boy you sure do leave a lot up to the imagination…
BTW, I never said I liked 2 out of the 3, just that they are not junk with poor quality control… lol
And AGAIN, this has been answered, even by our tire engineer, you know a guy that knows more about tires than non tire engineers…
then I said ‘’ I like how these tires ride and handle and they are one of the three you mention as not being junk.‘’
I never said that you like any of those companies lol your the one imagining things that aren’t there.
