The Brown and MIT professor shooter was found dead (self-inflicted) in a storage facility. I was at the Lowes store about 1/4 mile away at the time the police were swarming the facility. I had no idea it was happening until I was driving home and my wife called me and told me. Luckily when I left Lowes I went in the opposite direction. My town is East of Salem. I’ve mentioned this intersection in Salem before - It has 3 auto parts stores (AutoZone, Advance Auto and PepBoys - although this PepBoys no longer sells parts. They just do auto repairs now). ---

The guy went to Brown University and shot up a classroom killing 2 and injuring 9 others (some critically). He then drove to Brookline MA and shot an MIT professor. The Pep Boys near me just changed their signage to show an Advance Auto Parts store attached to the repair shop. There’s another Advance store closer to me and about 4.4 miles away the Pep Boys near that seemed too close to me, but they’ve coexisted for a few years now. ---

Now that we are talking about auto stores, hear my story. Blower motor resistor failed on my truck just out of warranty. Went to AutoZone, got their white box replacement, it’s been working fine for ten years. Since Lowe’s was mentioned. Went to Lowe’s to shop lawnmowers, saw the one I wanted. Sign in store states order on line, 48 hour delivery assembly included. Fine, I ordered, took nearly three weeks, not assembled, battery dead. This is an isolated case. In general I like Lowes. ---

If they didn’t have that specific one I wanted physically in the store, I wouldn’t have given them the time of day, let alone my money for something I have to order on line even though I’m in the store! ---

They had it, did not want to drive 10 miles home to get the trailer. Since delivery is free, I ordered it. If you want to drive an addition 20 miles rather than have it delivered your choice. Like pizza, I always do an in store pickup rather than delivery. ---

Yeah I watched the progress of this. Every day another story. Frustrating. Sounds like a homeless student or former connected the dots and reported the rental car. Plate readers I’m sure tracked it. Lots we don’t know and maybe won’t. ---

AI probably goes through several layers of discrimination before an inspector makes a final determination. ---

Our lawnmower has been an electric one for over 20 years. Same with our chainsaw and snow blower. ---

Dad went electric for most yard equipment but with 4 acres he still needs gas mowers. Including a tow behind field mower with a Kodiak 450 to tow it. Mom thought the lawn tractor would split in 1/2 so she approved the $10k combo. Spent about half that to have a pro clean up 10+yrs of growth. My neighbor has a 2 acre lawn and he uses a Luba II electric robotic mower. It has to recharge about 3 times to do the whole lawn and takes about half a day. ---

The lawn tractor could be electric, takes about 1hr to do the acre of lawn with trips to unload the sweeper at the grass pile. Could plug in for a break since it’s usually close to the house. Dad’s only concern is all the engineers to maintain. Atv gets put to work hauling leaves and yard waste to compost piles on the property.
