The seal should be nothing more than an O-ring. take the old one, and hit your local O’Reily’s, Autozone, etc, and they’ll have a box of o-rings you can choose from. They’re about 50 cents each.
Remove the center wire from the distributor cap. Hold the end about 1/2 inch away from any metal surface and have someone crank the engine. A nice blue spark, several of them, should jump off the end of the wire…If so, the distributor is fine…
