Hi, I have a 2003 BMW 530i, the original battery finally died. As soon as I replaced the battery, I’ve been having issues with my navigation system. It works fine in the morning, but doesn’t want to work in the afternoons or evenings. Weird! I get the message,“Please wait a moment”, but nothing happens, or “DVD not found, insert DVD”. Any ideas out there? I don’t want to take it to the dealership quite yet and shell out a large sum of dough.

You could try cleaning the navigation DVD and the DVD drive. Get a good cleaning kit and follow the directions. If you just use a rag or paper towel, you may make the problem worse instead of better. You might also check into getting an updated nav/map DVD, yours is probably pretty out of date by now.
