The collapse of natural gas prices continues…On the futures market today, N.G. dropped to $1.99/MMCF This makes it more that 10 times cheaper than gasoline or diesel as a source of energy… Ten Times…These kinds of price spreads almost always lead to fundamental changes in consumption patterns. There is too much money to be made to ignore this…

These natural gas prices are changing coal consumption (down) as electrical generators switch to gas. It’s also resulting in a major drop in drilling wells for natural gas. Those $6 MILLION dollar wells are money losers at these prices.

Drilling has stopped temporarily. It will pick up when prices increase. As for gas fired electrical generators, that will make alternative power generation from wind and solar even more practical. When alternative sources are not available due to vagaries in the weather, the methane plants can be started to make up the difference.
