Not at all similar. Unless you consider 7psi similar to 3000psi.

And that modern mechanical fuel pump is a piston pump, not a diaphragm design.

And all DI cars with the modern high pressure pump also have a low pressure electric pump.

The high-pressure fuel pump on a Chevrolet V-8 is located in the valley below the intake manifold, Rick can’t see it or how it differs from a diaphragm pump.

I drove a 1981 E150 with the 4.9l engine 390k miles and neither the fuel pump or carburetor were ever replaced.

Would it be correct to say it wasn’t the engine that caused you to stop driving this? Those 4.9s seem to run nearly forever!

Can confirm. I had a 1988 Toyota Corolla base model, and we had constant problems with the carburetor. It required frequent adjustment by a professional mechanic to avoid difficulty starting, etc.

Unlikely, early 80’s 305’s were known for poor metallurgy on the camshafts. The lobes would be smoothed out to the point the engine wouldn’t run well before 400k miles.

I’ll bet you never replaced a timing chain on that one either! 😉

I sold that truck and I was honest about everything then one day I stopped at a RR crossing and recognized it. The driver bought it from my customer who told him the mileage was 112k.

My reason for selling it was I quit my contract driving job

18,000 personnel, military and civilian, work on Langley AFB; granted not all are day workers, but the vast majority of them do work days and they get off between 4:00 PM and 5:00PM… and this roundabout is the cause of many a nightmare…

It’s actually simple, having driven in the Caymans myself:

In North America, yield to occupants on your left before entering.

In British subject countries: Yield to occupants on your right before entering.

Leave “Me First” outside the roundabout.

Well, here in Virginia, we have created and even stranger “animal…” It is called the displaced left-turn intersection and it looks like this…

And it even comes with a YouTube video to explain it… In the beginning, businesses complained that it reduced their business as some people would shop elsewhere rather than risk the “maze of death”.

Some new reports likened it playing the computer car crash games like: “Wreck Fest” or “Burnout Paradise”

Yes, hence the winking emoji in my post. 😀

One thing I never liked about those, even though you never needed to worry about a chain, the crank seal in the timing cover would leak oil and the seal was installed from the inside, so you were pulling the cover off anyway…

I had a 1988 Olds Ceira with the GM “Iron Duke” 4 cyl engine. It was used in many smaller GM cars and it used timing gears instead of belt or chain. You’d think it would be very robust. But to reduce “gear noise” some Einstein thought would be a good idea to make the larger gear (on the camshaft) out of a composite material. Yes, I was driving to work and my car just quit. It was fixed under warranty, the fix was to replace it with a robust steel gear. I did not hear any noise out of that engine after, so I don’t know what they were thinking.
