When the temperature drops to single digits, my car won’t start when I go out to warm it in the morning. It doesn’t even turn over. I wait 15-20 minutes and try to start it again. And it starts OK. Then it’s fine for the day. I’ve taken it to get it checked out. The diagnostic doesn’t reveal any problem with starter, battery, etc. The mechanics try to duplicate the problem, but without success. Do I have to live with this?

It is probably time for a new and better battery. How old is your battery?

I also suspect a weak battery. Also make sure you oil in the car that is no thicker than 5W-20 or 5W-30 in this cold weather. It might even be worth considering going to 0W-20 or 0W-30 just to take the strain of the starter and battery.

Well, I had the battery replaced less than a year ago. The battery checks out fine.
