Well, if they did a REALLY good job, your car would stop running. Lets back up. Your car’s muffler is not that easy to “stuff.” Someone could stuff your car’s tailpipe, but it would take some time and effort to actually stuff the muffler.

Please tell us why you think someone did this to your car.

A competent taxidermist could make your favorite muffler seem very lifelike.

As a kid having done this several times with a potato, the posters are right; the car will stall. I had no revenge motive!

wow this depends on what it is jello, or cement both will stop engine from starting. after getting hard. of corse it must be below 32 for jello to set up and over 32 for cement to set up. marbles will only roll around and set you crazy. . lets get to your real problem. can they get into muffler or is there a long pipe before the muffler. if can starts it could blow out an item. what type of car let us know. and with what

If this question was prompted by seeing “hair like” stuff coming out the tailpipe, what you’re probably seeing is fibreglas that used to be in the muffler (as sound deadener) starting to blow out of a disintegrating muffler.

If not, completely blocking the tailpipe should cause the engine to stall. If it doesn’t, you have an exhaust leak somewhere upstream and should get it fixed ASAP. Blocking the tailpipe is a diagnostic method to check for exhaust leaks.

If someone threatened you then the Law is on your side. Yes, you are understanadbly frightened, and reluctant to run to the Police. But you need some calm, sound advice from SOMEBODY who knows how to deal with this situation. Try to find a more experienced person whom you can trust. Don’t wait for the threatener to decide s/he is justified or can get away with it, and – if you are worried enough to post here – do not try to handle it yourself.

Good luck.

Your engine works like an air pump. It pumps air and gas in, explodes it, then pumps it out. If the exhaust is plugged it will be unable to pump it out and the engine will stall. It can’t keep pulling air in if it can’t pump it back out after it’s done with it.
