WHERE CAN I FIND SOMEBODY TO FIX A MOTOR INSTEAD OF TELLING ME TO JUST PUT IN A NEW ONE?

Just open your wallet up and they will beat a path to your door, it will be up to you to judge the quality of the person you hire.

google “engine rebuilding” and your city. Keep in mind that the cost of labor far outweighs the cost of parts. A new/used engine may be cheaper.

The engines in todays cars were not designed to be “field rebuildable”… They were assembled by robots to very close tolerances that simply can not be duplicated in the field using hand tools and aftermarket parts and assembly practices…

In the end, its CHEAPER just to install a FACTORY long block. Otherwise, you will pay a fortune in labor and still risk a botched job…

The people telling you to put in a new motor are doing you a favor. Even in the old days (meaning the 1950’s) it was better to change a motor rather than do a rebuild of the engine. In fact, Sears and Montgomery Ward had pages of factory rebuilt engines in their catalogs. A factory rebuilt engine has every part renewed.

What often was called a an overhaul was just a sloppy patch. Expansion rings were installed to stop the oil burning and the valves were ground. 20,000 miles later, the probems were back.

Um…am I the only one wondering what’s wrong with the engine, what the year and mileage of the car is, and exactly what’s happened so far? Is this a follow on to some other post?

Who am I? Why am I here?
