Then there was the $50.00 Corvette (sometimes a Caddy), either the husband got caught cheating and the wife sold it to get even, or someone died in the Corvette and owner could not get the smell out.

You discount the power of Cosmoline. As I mentioned earlier, the story I heard was the army had a contract to buy them past 1945 and as a courtesy to the manufacturer held on to them so they didn’t flood the market.

I heard it as a Caddy. Somebody made a country song out of it. Why a wife did what her run-off-with-a-floozie husband asked her to do took the starch out of it for me. Nothing to do with Cosmoline.
