I have found that Mazda 626 and Protege seem to be $500 or more cheaper than the same year on Craigslist.

Looking up the 626 on Consumer Reports, they give it good reliability except for a half black circle for transmission problems. One of the two I tested so far, did have a jumpy transmission. Any comments on reliability of these two cards.

Forget Mazda, get Honda or Toyota.
