I have a 93 ford taurus 3.8L V6 automatic GL. My heater core has a leak and since it is summer and I don’t need to use my heater I was thinking of disconnecting the two heater hoses from the heater core and using a “heater hose connector” to join them together. Would doing this do anything to my car? Is it ok to do this and not do any damage to my car someway?

Go for it. They are a beast to change. IIRC they get a flat rate of eight hours to do one.

Yes it may have an effect. On Fords, if you change the radiator, the heater core soon starts to leak. This makes me believe that the heater core change could do the same to the radiator if the radiator is old also. You might try for the newer car too. You don’t have to, but you have my approval.

I knew there was something that i forgot to do.

I’ve had the heater core on my 87 Ranger bypassed for about 5 years, with the new core sitting on the shelf in my garage.

Here in SoCal an air conditioner is important. Heaters not so much.
