My 2002 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 is shifting hard from first to second. It has 120,000 miles on it. Should I do a filter and fluid change or just work with the bands?? Any suggestions would be grand!!! ---

I would try a fluid and filter change first. When was the last time it was changed? ---

Does this transmission actually have bands that need to be adjusted periodically? I was under the impression that this type of technology went out the window many years ago. Perhaps transman can give me some reality on this issue. ---

i’m not sure when the last time fluid/filter was changed or even if it was changed at all?? I just bought the Jeep a couple weeks ago. I
