Hi all,
I have a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES and it’s making a weird noise when I start it up. I’m not an expert and im just looking for any opinions on what the problem might be?.

This is the video of it running:

Thanks in advance for any tips/suggestions.

No, that’s not the fanbelt. It could be a tensioner though, but take a look at the power steering pump. Looking at the ground in the video, it seems that Your car is leaking oil (or gas) and a bad pump would fit well in with the noise.

Your rad fan is not driven by a belt

Does it really matter? The thing still has a belt in front of the engine and we all know (should know) what he is “talking” about.

sorry for the late update. anyways it turned out to be the fan belt that was tearing off and the strands of it were hitting the engine, never seen this before. the pulley bearings were also replaced. with a new fan belt and pulley bearings the car is reliable again, and it costed about $700.
