I have a 2003 Honda CRV. When I brake, there’s a clanging noise-it’s not consistent, and I just had the brakes checked a week ago. It has about 155,000 miles on it. Any ideas what might be causing it?

If the brakes are ok, next guess is something loose in the suspension system. Or something is loose in the car’s passenger compartment or trunk like a golf ball or soda can rolling around during braking.

There is a metal shield that may be cracked almost all the way around. It’s easy to check.

We had a similar situation on our Silhouette minivan. One of crossbars on our roof rack came loose and it sounded at first like something in a rear door. Check to make sure the roof rack is tight and see if that helps.

my rear suspension had rust issues. the trailing arm mount was loose. the bracket for the mount was bolted to a thin section of the lower body and it was in poor shape. i hope you dont have rust issues
