If you regularly replenish the fluid of your coolant system (or oil lubrication system) due 2 a leak

Chair or ‘throne’?

LOL, I can only imagine… a computer on my throne! As if I don’t have enough trouble battling hemorrhoids!

Both my parents and one grandfather had those Franze filters installed on their cars. The engine in my mothers 58 olds went out after about 15k miles, but the filter was installed wrong and wasn’t actually filtering the oil supplied to the engine. Both my dads 64 Pontiac and my grandfathers 65 Pontiac ad the filters installed when the cars were new. Gramp’s car went 169k miles with no problems when he traded it, Dads car had about 100k when he sold it and again, no issues. Gramp’s had the oil changed every 12k miles and the filter every 1k. Dan never changed the oil but did the filter every 1k. All cars in So Cal and used 30HD oil.

SMB, try Noxzema Medicated Skin Cream (original formula), it works many times better than the usual preparations.

Does it have a vasodilator?

Back to cars… where did anyone ever get the idea that TP was designed to filter anything?

I did a little spread sheet on this theory. I used a 4 quart system. If you do an oil change, and then add a quart of oil every 1000 that makes up for lost oil, it is not exactly like an oil change every 4000 miles. On an engine that does not loose oil and it is changed every 4000 miles, then the average miles on the oil over time is 2000 miles.

If you are losing a quart every 1k and you add one qt, the average miles on the oil rises over time to around 3500 miles after about 30k miles. This approaches 4k average in the tank just before adding the make up oil which reduces the oil in the tank to 3k.

Without using calculus, my best guess is that an oil change every 8k would approximate the average of the oil in the vehicle that doesn’t burn oil.

It is hard to transfer an spreadsheet to an internet post. The first column is miles after initial oil change, second column is the average number of miles on oil before adding makeup, third column is the average miles on oil after adding makeup.

None of this address any sludge or contaminates in the bottom of the oil pan or any number of other variables. I submit it as a piece of evidence, not the definitive answer.

Keith, the labels didn’t come through. Without the X and Y labels I can’t figure out what I’m looking at.

I didn’t use labels, I tried to explain the columns at the bottom of the post. I did several edits before I got something that even resembled a spreadsheet, then edited two more times after that adding the bottom paragraphs. You caught me between edits.

Got it. It’s a good start.
I should myself focus my brain on putting the formula together. Perhaps later… it’s time for my nap now… {:-/
