I have the heads off of my 1995 ford ranger 3.0 engine. how can I test the lifters to make sure they are good before I put the heads back on?

 Thanks

Were they noisy before? Pull them out and check the face for pitting, mushrooming, any odd wear pattern. Find out the reputation this engine has in regards to cam and lifter life span. Have you ever ran with dirty oil or low oil level? You can make a decision on camshaft, lifter, timing chain ,gears, rocker arm lock nuts ,push rods by mileage and how complete a repair you want to make.

Many people let money decide if a part needs replaced.
