I have a 2001 Bonneville. I get a humming whirling noise on acceleration. The pitch gets higher and lower on acceleration and decelleration, respectively. Could this be the alternator? I had front wheel bearings replaced this past year.

Sometimes, one has to hear a sound to make a determination as to its cause.
