# How to disable telescoping steering on Nissan Maxima

My motor seems to be going out on 2004 Maxima’s telescoping steering wheel. The mechanic I called said for me to lock it in position and disable the mechanism, and that would be explained in the owner’s manual. I cannot find this information anywhere. Can someone help me?
