One day after work I couldn’t shift my Dodge Neon into reverse (5 speed), the rubber bushing in the shift cable end crumbled to pieces. I used a piece of 1/4" fuel hose as a bushing as a temporary repair, ten years has passed. I need to order a Dorman repair kit while they are still available.
Just got our second (more advanced) 3D printer and it’s already proved its usefulness in making some structural parts from carbon fiber infused filament. The kid burns through standard filaments like they are free but he has learned all the intricacies of how to control every aspect of it so it was worth that investment. I would like to get a metal powder machine next for making sintered parts.
The good news about that is most head light bulbs are not specialty bulbs, they share platforms across multiple brands and many many models and years, so to your point, my 2023 Toyota uses a H11& H9 bulb, very common bulbs common bulb, that being said it is highly unlikely that they will stop making H11 & H9 bulbs even 20 years from now, the aftermarket support for (most anyway) head light bulbs are massive…
I know here in Australia manufacturers have to give support for ten years. When GM closed Holden they had to do that, parts etc…whether the US is the same I don’t know.A lot of Chinese brands are coming in(free trade agreements) but many don’t have very good backup in as far as a good established dealer network. Our PM actually warned them to get their house in order in respect of that
.BYD,GWM have quite good established dealer networks.
