# Honda Civic manifold cracks

Hi, I have a 2002 Honda Civic that my mechanic says needs a new manifold due to cracks appearing in it.He also stated this has been a big problem for the Honda Company. My question is; how severe is it and are they going to acknowledge this problem and issue with a recall?

I’m not aware that it’s a big problem but any exhaust manifold can crack. Overheating an engine, driving through deep water, etc. can do it.

Chronic problem or not, this does not mean that a recall will be issued or that you should be entitled to a free repair.

If Honda, or any other car maker, covered every problem on every out of warranty car that is out there they would have been bankrupt long ago.
