What causes a whirring sound in the front f the car when I turn the steering wheel? It happens first thing when I start in the morning but goes away.

What year Accord? The mid-2000’s ones are known for having the power steering pump inlet o-ring go bad. This introduces air to the system, which makes the pump noisy. It will get worse over time. Fortunately, it’s something like a $2 part, and it’s child’s play to replace it.

I would recommend replacing the fluid while you’re at it, since opening up the system may have allowed contaminants to get in.

Good video. I just use my pinkie finger to get the o-ring out. No chance of damaging the housing that way, and it’s usually not bonded in there so it’s easy to pop out.
