Hello 1999 Honda Odyssey v6 Does anyone know what what trouble code 1253, "VTEC main bank 1 failure " means? Vehicale has 105,000 miles. Thank you! ---

Honda VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) system controls how much the intake valves open at different speeds, loads, throttle positions, and coolant temperatures. “A problem in the VTEC solenoid valve circuit will set a diagnostic trouble code and illuminate the Check Engine light on the dash.” And further, “Most common problems in the VTEC system are associated with the solenoid valve and its [oil] filter.” Quotes from Haynes Repair Manual #42014, page 2B-9. There are check procedures, and pictures, in the manual. Try it. You’ll like it.
