My 1982 Audi diesel had a buzzer that went off when the oil pressure dropped. It also had a two stage oil pressure warning system, so that if the oil pressure dropped too low to run at highway speeds (but still OK for idle and low speed) the buzzer would sound and the oil light would come on.
