I have a 2007 Chevy Aveo LS Sedan with 68K miles. Recently, my car horn stopped working. It was diagnosed that the car horn relay was dead.

I contacted the dealer and they informed me that the relay is underneath the steering column in the “kick panel” compartment. I opened it up but I just saw lots of wire harnesses.

So, my questions are the following:

 1) Can anyone confirm that the relay is located in this compartment?

 2) What does the relay look like?

Sounds good to me as far as location. Buy the replacement so you can swap it out, and see exactly what to look for. the auto parts store probably has a location they can show you when you buy it.

Thanks waterboy. The picture of the part was very helpful.
However, I looked behind the kick panel and no relay! The dealer was incorrect…what a shock. I’m so looking forward to tracing the wires from the horn to the firewall…

This might be a bit of a long shot, but try unplugging the horn and then listen for clicking when you push the horn button. Then follow your ears to the relay!

Of course that assumes it’s a relay that makes an audible click and that it’s not broken in such a way that it doesn’t click any more.

EDIT: Oh, wait… your horn doesn’t work so you shouldn’t even need to unplug it!
