No, the American Clay Foundation,said it was shattered beyond repair( I’m starting to get more respect for Hillary all the time,but I do not think the country is ready for a woman prez-for various reasons[ability is not one of them]-Kevin
@kmccune
??? the Save-the-Skeets Foundation is shot to pieces?
Your respect for Hillary because she can throw a national treasured vase at Bill?
You got it,something about Hogs and livestock getting indigestion on the skeet carcasses,yeah I expect Philandering Bill had some splaining and ducking to do-Kevin
Clearly Hillery is not the hunter that Dick Cheney is…
As for Bill, well, I certainly wouldn’t accept a cigar from that guy. You don’t know where it might have been.
Seriously, I don’t believe in the same philosophies that Hillery does, but IMHO she’s a very brillient lady and a truely “class act”.
Hillary has very broad (pardon the pun) appeal. My wife has an Aunt and Uncle who are staunch conservative republicans. They are friends with Rush Limbaugh. They’ve been to his house in NYC and he’s even visited them in Syracuse. But my wifes Aunt actually campaigned for Hillary. Switched to a democrat and voted in the primary so she could vote for Hillary in the primary. Switched back for the general election to vote for Romney. But would have voted for Hillary if she won the primary.
I would have voted for her over Romney any day. It depends on who the republicans put up next time around. I haven’t liked too many of the candidates of late.
My biggest complaint with Hilary would be the dynasty stigma I would feel. If hilary was elected imagine, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Clinton. Four of the last 5 presidents from 2 families, Imagine she runs against Jeb Bush and he wins, still the same statistic. That would be 24 years of rule by 2 families.
I agree, lets get some new faces involved. Its just a club and you don’t realize the relationships because the last names are different.
As far as skeet goes, no offense but the guy held the shot gun like a girl and must have hurt his shoulder if it actually had live rounds. Secondly, the Washington press called it a “rifle” which just shows how little they actually know about the subject they are so enraged about.
I don’t think the guy shoots all that much. Maybe with other national leaders who are just as bad/good. Getting mediocre at skeets takes practice, just like anything else-even using a chainsaw .
Cannot resist Cheney’s got a gun, who was it he shot ?
I think it was his lawyer that got shot. Former defense chief should be able to shoot straight y’d think.
@Same
I agree it’s good to support those who share our views…but;
In light of your previous glowing discription of Hillary, I would think we would want the most qualified from the opposition. As least in defeat, we would not be resting on the knowledge that the president was only good enough to beat the weakest candidate the opposition could put out there. It’s good the Republicans are reevaluating positions that are not supported by a majority of voters. If they had won, retirees would have to wonder why they supported someone who wanted to privatize Medicare, continue extravagant military spending, maintain the status quo on gun control, roll back pro choice and eliminate Social Security as they know it. Yes, Mitt WAS in favor of all that and still got their votes.
Soul searching against a stronger candidate if you loose is good. So Hillary would not be preferable to Newt ? And, was Mitt the best candidate for the Reps. Last time ?
If Obama did nothing else, other then having a different name, he oppened the door for all minority candidates, women include. When you include candidates other then white males, not only do you get better white male candidates but you actually listen to your own supporters more as well. That’s good, isn’t it ?
When you include candidates other then white males, not only do you get better white male candidates but you actually listen to your own supporters more as well
That depends on who you ask. There are still many people who think anyone OTHER then White males is BAD (Can you say John Sununu Sr).
That depends on who you ask.
Right. I was referring to non bigots. My mistake. Is he still the NH’s state flower ? We have ours now and will have to live with him too.
No, Hillery would not be preferable to newt. Because I respect someone does not follow that I agree with them or would vote for them. Nor can it be deduced that there are no others that I respect.
There are people I disagree with that I also don;t respect.
There are people I disagree with that I also respect.
There are people I agree with that I don’t respect.
And there are people that I both agree with and respect.
And there’s no sole individual that I agree with on all the issues.
And there are people that I think would be great in one particular role and terrible in other roles. Stanley McCrystal I believe was a brilliant general, a great soldier, and has a depth and breadth of understanding of the middle east and it’s problems that is beyond equal. But I wouldn’t want him in charge of the Fed. Obama is an extremely talented orator. But I wish he were not in charge of the country. Warren Buffet is a brilliant investor. But I think he’d make a lousy military commander.
It’s a mistake to attempt to extrapolate my preferences for office from my opinions of people. Or, for that matter, from my preferences for a different office.
PBO is the Best thing/person/idea that can happen to the Republican Party. They now have until the next presidential elections to re-invent their main message. If Romney had won, the R’s would have been forced to present unpopular positions and ultimately lose in the mid-term elections and fade away by 2016.
The election of Barrack Obama in 2008 was a monumental blow to a majority of Mississippians and his re-election has the state’s ruling whites in a state of shock and disbelief. Many here live their lives in the nostalgic dreams of Jim Crow and feel that Rick Perry or Newt Gingrich would have put things back in order and feel sure that if either of those two had been nominated they would have been victorious in the election. The current Republican ruling class is in strut and bray mode passing anything that has the appearance of shaking a middle finger at the White House, Reid and Pelosi. Mississippi seems destined to remain at the bottom of most charts for another generation but a black man in the White House has forced a significant number to crawl out from under their rocks and realize how the world is passing them by. If enough wake up to face the new day the state may have a chance to move up to #40 on the charts. I am very glad that the GOP recognizes that the future is not with the far right lynch mobs of Mississippi and several other CRIMSON states.
I hear you Same. But, my comment was only intended to draw out the best opponents to run against. It had nothing to do with “why” you support whomever you do during an election. That is a personal and respected choice.
For example, when coaching, I always felt you could better evaluate your own position when you opposed the best competition. If Hillary ran, and the Republicans won, THAT would do more for the Republican brand then redistricting, restricting voter turn out or any other scheme they could come up with short of…“let’s just listen to and governing all the people” and not just the fat cat donors which both sides tend to do.
Sometimes, for example, the opposition DOES have good solutions, and disregarding them because they have a different letter tatooed on their chest for their party affiliation makes NO sense. Having the strongest for an opponent, then legimately beating them clarifies your position and garnishes the support you need like no other way and still, IMO makes you more apt to include the opinion of the loosing effort. Beating a weak opponent I feel allows you to be dismissive of their efforts.
BTW Same. Most would consider me a wild eyed hippy liberal which will always put me in a minority. So much so, I couldn’t bear to be member of either party. And yet, any pole taken by members of this board would have me right in the middle on all issues areas. I really don’t believe many of us have that much difference in opinions on issues. The difference is, the hats we wear, the labels we pin on ourselves and perception. I believe it the same for most Americans.

I
I believe you are right. But I also believe, knowing the republican friends and relatives I have in other parts of the country, that it is the current RULING class and not the majority of those who actually call themselves republicans. What draws most of these party members together in a platform that may seem that way, but in reality is not for those I know, is economics. ALL conversation where seemly minority rights are not regarded is usually an economic issue my friends. When you instead, address peoples needs and personal freedoms instead of economic needs directly, you always come out on top and economy takes care of itself. That is where we need to be IMO.
@MB - It’s NOT just a matter or respect…but a matter of trust. I personally don’t TRUST newt. I don’t trust Chaney. Newt will run again in 2016 because he’s arrogant enough to think he has a chance of winning (which he doesn’t).
The GOP has to be able to find some other candidate besides Newt and Romney.
I can’t remember ever voting for a President that I actually liked. All have been choosing the lesser of two evils. There have been a few I liked for Governor and Senate…but not for president.
