Gf car (2015 Chevy Trax LT) leaking oil need advice

Just what i would tell a friend. Implants are about $5000 each but require a good ■■■■ to screw into. Likely this would be a problem anyway.

There is nothing more demoralizing than being out of work, having been there. It is important to a persons self respect to get on a payroll. Doesn’t matter doing what, just a productive job. Hiring signs are everywhere.

Why is b o n e a bad word?

Just check the oil daily, keep it at or near the full mark. As long as the oil looks clean, I would not do any further oil changes, some consider leaks ‘self changing oil’. Not great for the environment, but she needs transportation.

Here is one use that raises eyebrows:

Thats not very good advice. First, you don’t know the leak rate. What if it is 2500 miles/qt? That would mean your “self changing oil” change would equal a 12,500 mile oil change interval (OCI).

Just add oil as needed and record how much oil and how many miles between additions to get an idea of the loss rate. Still do regular oil changes, maybe at the max OCI, probably 7500 or when the oil change message comes on.

If you are consuming a quart of oil every 500 miles or less, then it is time to seriously look for the leak. I suggest cleaning around suspect areas and get them as dry as possible. Then use a dry white powder to see if new oil appears. Even All Purpose (bleached) Flour can work for this.

The OP infers a large leak rate. Actual consumption has not been provided. Once the OP fine full time employment they may be able to have the leak addressed.

Briggs tried that with their small engines. Just add oil no need to change it. Last I saw the engines were full of junk. Donneyboy says the engines are junk anyway so change oil twice as often. Changing oil flushes the junk out. Some of us will even add a little new oil and drain it to flush it out. But everyone suits themselves.

Check with a local trade school. Might be able to clean things up enough to find the leak. Or a church pastor’s fund could contribute to repair bills. Funds raised specifically to cover emergencies such as bills and car repairs. May have a member who’d take a look and help.

Gig sounds like you are a starving musician??
Sounds like you are pulling your girl friend down with you…

I live in Nashville, I have known some amazing musicians that never made it, I also know some pro musicians making a great living at it, if you don’t have your foot already in the door, chances are it will never happen, my advise, get a job, nothing smells worse than a desperate musician (not talking about body odor either) and pursue your dream on the side… Just being real with you… Once you have a decent job making decent money car repairs will be more feasible… But it is hard to try to help someone that won’t help themselves…

Oh yeah, keep an eye on the oil level and don’t let it go below the minimum mark…
And @wolyrobb makes an excellent point above…

Specific to Nashville but I’d love to see others around the country. Has to be referred from a non profit that will cover $500 of the total. Labor at half price with parts at cost also gets vehicles donated that are fixed up. https://www.mechanicsonamission.com/

Kudos to the Lovin’ Spoonful.

Took a Gray Line tour in Nashville when I was 26. One stop was the Sun Recording studio, a recording star came in that shares my last name, but at that time I was too shy to ask him if we might be related.

Sun Studios is in Memphis.

When did Sun Records move to Nashville?

July 1, 1969

On July 1, 1969, Shelby Singleton acquired the Sun Records catalog from Sam Phillips. He then moved the label to Nashville, TN where it has been operating since alongside sister labels SSS International, Plantation, Red Bird, Blue Cat, Silver Fox, and more.

It is possible the Sun office had an area representing what the Memphis Studio was like. 1977 when I was there was a long time ago!

Just to be clear, I don’t think the OP ever said anything about living in the Nashville area, he just mentioned “gig” and I simply said that “Gig sounds like you are a starving musician??
I then said that I (me) lived in Nashville then blah blah blah… The OP could live in Canada for all I know…

Nashville came up because of the song “Nashville Cats”, not about the OP.
Of course gig could refer to a standup comic or ventriloquist.

Hmmm. Wife had a four day conference in Nashville. I was never concerned until you mentioned 1300 starving musicians hanging out.

Gig work is not just musical. It describes Uber drivers and others who are considered “independent contractors” so that a company doesn’t have to treat them as actual employees. Obviously, that saves companies lots of money but makes the lives of gig workers a lot harder in terms of stability and income. Companies benefit from the labor of gig workers but aren’t responsible for minor things like health insurance, retirement plans, etc.

Sun Records is now in Nashville. Sun Studios is in Memphis. It is a Museum but is still used occasionally as a recording studio.
